The rise in mental health disorders, demand for better access to care and effective outcomes is growing everyday leading to examining new models for treatment that support diagnosis and support continuum of care. Employee Assistance Professionals are an intricate partner for working with providers and setting goals with patients for their care. The delivery and access to care are always changing. This presentation will discuss the profession and cultural changes occurring in care models, provider health/wellness, and evidence-based mental treatment.
2 PDH’s - Domain III
Dr. Carter is a Board-Certified Adult and Child/Adolescent Psychiatrist and is the Chief Medical Officer for Highlands Behavioral Health in Denver, CO. He studied and trained at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston/McGovern Medical School. Dr. Carter is passionate about education, teaching, and training students and residents. He completed a second doctorate in Healthcare Education, focusing on instruction, curriculum and leadership.
He is an avid researcher and has published on a myriad of topics in psychiatry, in addition to developing curriculum for medical schools in Texas and across the United States. His topics of interest include physician/trainee wellness, physician leadership, cultural psychiatry, LGBTQ+ health, and interventional psychiatry.
